Distribution: It is native to India and endemic to Western ghats (Karnataka and Maharashtra).

Habitat: Found in Moist Deciduous Forests of the Western Ghats.

• The leaves are probably the largest among all Bauhinia species found in India.

Flowers which open in the evening are pollinated by night insects and bats
